For instructors and supervisors
Scribo is not a substitute for appropriate supervision or conducting an independent literature search, but it helps the student prepare for meetings with his/her supervisor or librarian. You supervise the student, but if you think he/she have been guided to a workable problem formulation and literature search strategy before their supervisory meeting, then Scribo has done its job.
Scribo is an interactive guide that asks the user questions about the assignment or project in a coherent sequence. The questions provide guidance so that the student can organize the assignment. These are questions that you certainly also ask during supervision. In preparation for a supervisory meeting the student can send you their work in Scribo as a text file.
Scribo builds on the notion that independent assignments are a genre of investigative text that, in principle, should contain the same elements as a research article. The program is supported by the textbook, The good paper (Rienecker and Stray Joergensen, Samfundslitterature, 2005).
Institutional licensing
Educational institutions can sign up for Scribo accounts that give their students access to the program. Contact the Press for more information and prices (slforlagene@samfundslitteratur.dk).
Your own examples
It is possible for educational institutions to replace the existing cases in the program with six of their own. In this way, institutions can show examples of good assignments from their own programs. Contact Tanja Verbik for more information (tv@samfundslitteratur.dk).
